EmSAT English
Home editions of the TOEFL and IELTS tests are not accepted — candidates must sit the test at an authorized testing center.
EmSAT Arabic: applicants to the Master in Intellectual Property, Master in Criminal Sciences, Master in Arbitration and Professional Master in Sports Law must score at least 1250 in the UAE National Exam EmSAT – Arabic Test.
MBA applicants must submit a valid GRE® test report upon admission; otherwise they're conditionally admitted for one semester and must sit the test before it ends. Include AUE's institution code 2291 in your GRE® application so your scores are sent to the university.
Program-specific
Admission to the MSAIDS program is governed by AUE's Graduate Admission Policy and Procedure and is fully compliant with the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
Regular admission
A recognized bachelor's degree in AI, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, IT, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale).
Admission on probation
Applicants who don't meet regular criteria may be admitted on probation and complete designated ARCP courses in (1) programming, data structures and algorithms and (2) artificial intelligence. The number of courses is set by the Program Director or Student Advisor with the Dean's approval.
ARCP courses are Pass/Fail, don't count toward master's credit hours or CGPA, and must be completed within the probationary period. Not meeting the probationary requirements — including minimum performance in any permitted master-level course — results in automatic dismissal. English proficiency and all general graduate requirements still apply.
Doctoral programs
Applicants to the Doctoral programs must satisfy all of the following admission requirements.
01
A master's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
02
1,500–2,000 words outlining your proposed research topic, objectives, preliminary literature context and intended methodology.
03
From academic and/or professional referees who can attest to your academic ability and research potential.
04
Conducted by the Doctoral Admissions Committee. The Dean's written justification goes to the Graduate Studies Steering Committee for final approval.
English proficiency — test score less than two years old
6.5

91
TOEFL iBT minimum
Exceptions to English proficiency
✓
Native English speakers who completed their master's at an English-medium institution in a country where English is the official or de facto national language
✓
Holders of an English-medium master's who can show an IELTS Academic 6.0 (or equivalent) at the time of admission to their master's program
Relevant professional experience in the field is considered an added merit during the admissions assessment.
Conditional admission: doctoral candidates who don't yet meet the English requirement may be conditionally admitted with a minimum TOEFL ITP 500 (or equivalent). They must meet the full requirement before the end of their first semester and can enroll in no more than 6 credit hours in that semester; otherwise they can't enroll in further semesters until they do.
