
MANAGING TALENT IN BUSINESS WORLD
Human Resource plays a vital role in organizations to ensure that proper human capital is attracted and retained. As a result, Human Resource professionals are among the five top professions in demand. The HRM program offered by the College of Business Administration allows students to manage the human resources functions at any organization effectively. Students are best prepared for a career in human resources when the subject is taught within a business context. The Human Resource concentration is integrated throughout all management and development strategy programs. The program meets the rigorous Standards of the Commission for Academic Accreditation, and the curriculum is fully aligned with the standards set by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
COURSE STRUCTURE
Human Resource Management students will start with general and core courses and then progress to ten courses in the concentration and free electives. HRM concentration focuses on equipping students with all relevant skills needed for the job market, emphasizing strategic decision-making and the most recent trends in HRM, such as HR Analytics. Our concentration courses contain practical workshops, guest lectures, field trips and often invite guest speakers from organizations to demonstrate real-world business cases. Additionally, students are also provided with an opportunity to gain practical experience in HRM by taking the internship placement.
PROFESSIONAL BODY ACCREDITATION
The American University in the Emirates is an accredited member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM is an international society of experts on issues impacting the evolving workplace. AUE is a part of this society since the university offers a concentration in Human Resource Management. SHRM membership helps our students be up to date with most recent topics in HRM while connecting them with the most valuable experts in human resource management, where they can build their network needed during their study and after they graduate. SHRM provides our students with the latest information in the field along with the thousands of templates, policies and forms that they might need once employed. Being a part of SHRM enhances our students’ skills, sets stage for their lifelong learning, professional development and output, and builds solid steps in their a future careers in HRM.
